How I’m spending my long weekend
With July 4 (aka Independence Day in the USA) tomorrow, I decided to try a new experiment – being completely devoid of my iPhone.
I recently wrote a post on Startup Spark about how a very good friend swore to me and everyone else she knows would be off-line during her entire vacation this week on the beach. This friend is a Internet marketing consultant who runs her own business. I was so proud of her becuase I knew she really needed – and deserved a break.
So far, I’ve gotten two phone calls from her about work stuff. She even told me how she was working all day on contracts, chasing payments, and other client work.
Some vacation.
Then I realized, I probably couldn’t let go either. So enter my experiment: No iPhone for three days.
This is a good test, as we’re not straying far from home this weekend. (After all, Albany, NY has some of the best fireworks around, since we’re state capital – and literally 1 block away from it, I might add.) So if I REALLY need my iPhone, I can grab it. But I will be trying very hard to leave it alone.
This YouTube video, although about Crackberry addiction, is inspiring me. (I promise you I’m not THAT bad!
I’ll let you know next week how I did.
